Yummy Yogurt and Cherries

I had quite a bit of success a while back with losing weight doing the Flat Belly Diet, and it is time for me to start thinking about that again.  One of my favorite breakfasts that helped me succeed on the diet is yummy yogurt and cherries.  I keep a huge bag of frozen cherries in the freezer, and just defrost a few in the microwave, put yogurt on them and then some granola if I need a crunch. When {Read More}

Teaching Kids to Listen and Learn Self Control

I have two children with very different personalities, and I work with children in my job as a pediatric Occupational Therapist. One thing that I have learned about kids in my many years with them is that no two are alike, and no two will respond in the same way to the same input. There are basic similarities though, and it is our job as the adult to learn to read each child and try to figure them out to {Read More}

Baby Bird Rescue

We have a nest under the eaves right by our back door, and this morning, a young bird was flapping around in it and looked like it was stuck.  We watched for a bit hoping that he would be ok on his own, but then it became obvious that he was truly stuck and was not going to get out on his own.  We then had to initiate a baby bird rescue.  I got the ladder out of the garage {Read More}

Keep Active in the Summer

It is summer and the kids are out of school.  We need to build activity into their days or it is too easy to settle in to a lazy summer and watch too much TV and play more video games than is good for them. We have Tennis Tuesday every week, and go swimming at least once a week if not more.  I have many jobs around the house for the kids to do, but I have a tendency to {Read More}

Creating Therapeutic Games

I have not posted anything about inventing in years, but I have been going full force on my therapy games.  After bringing out the baby product, Hug ‘n Hold, and spending more money on it than I will ever make on it, I have determined what my criteria are for a product that I am working on.  I am not willing to spend a lot of money on marketing, and the product has to be easy to get manufactured and {Read More}

It’s Summer and It’s Awesome

I have just finished my first week of Summer break and I am loving it.  I work at a school district, so during the school year I have no time for this personal blog.  I see kids and do evaluations for Occupational Therapy, then pick up my kids from school, get homework going, start dinner, then I have to write up reports and enter info in the computer for work.  I feel like I am always working or thinking about {Read More}

Cinnamon Apple Crescent Bites

I am trying to use the food that we have in the pantry, and we have a lot of apples that need to be eaten.  We happened to have some Pillsbury crescent roll dough, so I cut up some apples, added a little sugar, cinnamon, and caramel, and then rolled the apple mix into the crescent rolls.  They were yummy.  I will make them again, but will try to work out how to have less dough, because the apple filling {Read More}

Annual Snorkeling Trip to La Jolla Cove

Having grown up in Southern California, I fell in love with snorkeling when I was a kid.  I probably snorkeled for the first time in Hawaii, but I didn’t fall in love with it until later when I was older and we went snorkeling at La Jolla Cove in San Diego.  La Jolla Cove is a protected marine reserve, so there are lots of fish to see.  The water is of course much colder than Hawaiian waters, but during the {Read More}

Yummy cookie peanut butter cup brownie

For 4th of July, I signed up to bring a dessert to the barbeque.  I had seen a couple of desserts on Pinterest that I wanted to try, so I had my daughter pick the one that she thought looked the best.  She decided on a dessert that has a chocolate cookie bottom, reese’s peanut butter cups in the middle, and brownie on top. Since we were making this for a pretty large crowd, I needed to use a big {Read More}
